Today we finished the Evidence review portion of Bar/Bri by covering California Evidence. I understand why they want to keep the Federal Rules and the California Evidence Code separate, but my head is practically mush after going through all of the distinctions. I also feel like the last three years of law school just went right out of my head after graduation and I'm having to replace it with Bar Law.
As for the title for today. I had an option to take Bar/Bri at Western State or Chapman. Personally I prefer Chapman as it is closer to my house, has an extremely quiet and well illuminated library, and is a short walk from the Orange circle. If I want to get a quick dinner or lunch, I can walk across the street to Chapman U or down to the Circle. If I went to Western, I would have to drive my car everywhere or make do with the cafe on campus. The only down side with Chapman is that they do not waive the permit requirements for Bar/Bri Students. For the first few days, it was not a problem. But today, Officer "I have nothing better to do than patrol the parking structures" got me. Now I need to find somewhere else to park, otherwise I'm shelling out $12 bucks a day. Well I guess when you have Hugh Hewitt as a professor no one is entitled to a free ride.
Back to Evidence. I feel like I've been hoodwinked. Our 5-day MBE refresher covered evidence and I felt that I understood the material really well. Now however, I've been working through the MBE questions in the MCQ1 volume and I'm blowing it. Plus I'm looking at the Paced Program and there is not a single day off. I don't mind doing all of the work, but I am not a machine. I plan on taking a half day every once in a while to recharge the jets.
Oh well back to work...WDR
