Now that both Flag Days have come and gone for the Democrats and the Republicans (even the Minutemen are now getting in on the action), it's time to look at this from a perspective of Eddie Izzard:
"You Don't have a Flag?"
I'm glad that Frank Mickadeit took the time out of his busy Saturday to spend it with us Democrats. From the sound of your article, you seemed a little bothered to be there. Rosie's loss was a tough one, you went after a person who spent her time helping kids after school in her garage and didn't have the money to really take on the "Goliath" Republicans. As for the appearance of George Cloony, that one was a long shot, short of like Giuliani attending the Republicans Flag Day.
Is this going to come down to the argument of "Mine is Bigger." Should we each get out our flags and measure them by the number of people in attendance and by the number of checks that are brought in? Is that really what Orange County Politics has come down to? The GOPers bring in 1,100 people and over $300,000+ in donations and its held in Irvine (at a hotel) while the Democrats hold an open-flag day (at the park) with a small crowd but talk about the flag with members of various religious faiths and cultures. Am I the only one seeing the David v. Goliath comparisons here? (This one is a little funny, considering my background)
Frank, size doesn't matter, it's how you use it that counts.
